{"id":351776,"date":"2025-08-17T14:02:23","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T14:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/351776\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T14:02:23","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T14:02:23","slug":"telstra-outage-wipes-out-phone-and-internet-in-southern-nsw-for-more-than-hour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/351776\/","title":{"rendered":"Telstra outage wipes out phone and internet in southern NSW for more than hour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Telstra says a large-scale telecommunications outage across southern New South Wales has been resolved.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">About 100,000 customers between Nowra and Eden, and as far inland as Bombala, were without internet and phone coverage for more than an hour after an incident at the telco&#8217;s North Nowra exchange site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A Telstra spokesperson said the situation, which began at about 1pm, was caused by an onsite power outage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Power was quickly restored, but it disrupted services coming from 99 other base stations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Telstra southern NSW regional manager Chris Taylor said services should be back to normal for a majority of customers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Photo of a chalkboard that says &quot;No EFTPOS sorry&quot;\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/5115784e3891becd36518c39514f4dd2\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Customers were left without electronic payment services at venues across Bega.
