An attempted murder suspect has died after falling ill while awaiting trail in Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earl Johnson, 64, had been charged with three counts of attempted murder after a man and two women were stabbed<\/a> in Doncaster Way<\/a>, Hodge Hill, on New year’s Eve 2024.<\/p>\n

Johnson, also charged with two counts of possession of a knife, was remanded into custody to await trial but he died just a few days later after collapsing in his cell.<\/p>\n

The former chef, who lived in Doncaster Way, was rushed to Midland Metropolitan Hospital after suffering a ruptured aortic aneurysm.<\/p>\n

He was then transferred to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital where it was deemed he was “too unwell for surgery”. He died soon after arrival.<\/p>\n

In her report, seen by us, Senior Coroner Louise Hunt wrote: “Mr Johnson was found collapsed in his cell at a Birmingham prison at approximately 8.25am on January 3.<\/p>\n

“Paramedics were called and he was taken to the Midland Metropolitan Hospital whether they confirmed he had a ruptured aortic aneurysm.<\/p>\n

“He was transferred to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital<\/a> where sadly he was too unwell for any surgery and he died soon after arrival.”<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Justice confirmed to BirminghamLive that Johnson had been remanded and was awaiting trial for attempted murder over the triple stabbing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police said two women, aged 18 and 20, and a 25-year-old man had been knifed in the incident.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n
