Daniel Berger’s season on the PGA Tour has come to an abrupt end after the golfer was forced to withdraw from the <\/strong>BMW Championship<\/strong><\/a> ahead of the final round.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Berger entered the second leg of the PGA Tour<\/a>‘s play-offs at Caves Valley Golf Club with slim hopes of making it to next week’s Tour Championship.<\/p>\n

Only the top 30 in the standings earn a tee time for the season finale at East Lake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berger<\/a> began this week 33rd in the season-long race, but rounds of 71, 69 and 72 saw the golfer way down the leaderboard after 54 holes – dropping 11 places in the standings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is understood Berger injured his finger whilst playing a shot late on Saturday evening and, after attempting a range session this morning, decided that he could not play.<\/p>\n

He was due to begin his round at 10.45am ET alongside Justin Rose, but the Englishman will now play on his own.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The official PGA Tour communication’s department confirmed Berger’s withdrawal at 9.20am local time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berger’s Ryder Cup chances<\/p>\n

It’s more than likely Berger’s withdrawal and injury will end any tiny hopes the golfer had of making the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup<\/a> team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berger made his debut in the biennial contest in 2021 and played well, going 2-1-0 as Steve Stricker’s red, white and blue battered Padraig Harrington’s Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berger has endured a torrid time with injuries since and was even forced to sit out an entire year with a serious back injury.<\/p>\n

It got to the point where the golfer admitted he simply was hoping to regain a quality of life, let alone play professional golf again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Berger persevered through an intense rehab and has now completed two full seasons on the PGA Tour without a protracted spell on the side-lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old is currently 19th in the US Ryder Cup standings<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Only the top six at the conclusion of the BMW Championship will qualify automatically.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler<\/a>, JJ Spaun and Xander Schauffele<\/a> have already booked their places, with Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English currently in the automatic qualifying positions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

PGA Tour make unsurprising Bryson DeChambeau claim<\/p>\n

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has already confirmed DeChambeau<\/a> will be in his team that heads to Bethpage Black.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bradley has already confirmed several Team USA will tee it up in the Procore Championship next month in a ‘tune-up’ in advance of the showdown<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIV Golf recruit DeChambeau says the PIF-backed breakaway are willing to let him play, but the 31-year-old remains suspended from the PGA Tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“That’s up to the Tour and their decision to make,” he told to SI at LIV Golf Indianaplois.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It’s on them if they don’t let us become together as a team and play.”<\/p>\n

DeChambeau described the situation<\/a> as ‘unfortunate’, adding: “I wish it was different.”<\/p>\n
