with \u00a32.50 pints, 29C highs and \u00a334 return flights from the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">If sunshine is top of your summer wish-list, then there&#8217;s one European country that puts the rest in the shade, according to new weather research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A study by\u00a0holiday rental platform Holidu has unearthed the continent&#8217;s sunniest cities, and nine of the top ten are in <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/spain\/index.html\" id=\"mol-edf53060-1b83-11f0-9d34-817e34464ae6\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Recent bad weather may have dogged Spanish islands &#8211; with <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/easter\/index.html\" id=\"mol-edf668e0-1b83-11f0-9d34-817e34464ae6\" rel=\"noopener\">Easter<\/a> holidaymakers caught out by surprise floods on Lanzarote, but the country is still far and away the safest bet if you&#8217;re craving a city break in the sunshine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Analysing which urban destinations gift the most hours of sunshine,\u00a0Holidu consulted data from World Weather Online and found the south-eastern city of Cartagena basked in the most hours of sunshine per month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The historic port city, founded by the Carthaginians around 220 BC, gets a whopping average of 283 hours of sun every month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Its average temperature year-round is a balmy 19.1 degrees &#8211; and a pint in the destination&#8217;s bars around \u00a32.50<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">And when it comes to spending on the ground, there&#8217;s more good news; the average price of a pint of beer is around\u00a0\u20ac3 in the city, which works out at just over \u00a32.50.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Last year, a\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/travel\/article-13439323\/Spain-Torrevieja-Cheapest-Seaside-Town-Cartagena.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Which? traveller survey<\/a> of 28 Spanish seaside towns named Cartagena as one of the country&#8217;s best value breaks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The consumer champion invited travellers to score the Spanish seaside towns on 11 criteria including the quality of the beach and seafront, safety, food and drink, accommodation, and value for money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">According to the new research, other popular destinations that promise glorious sunshine on the Spanish mainland include Alicante and Malaga, which boasts\u00a0279.6 and\u00a0279.3 hours of sun per month respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">And the two city break destinations that aren&#8217;t in Spain but that did find themselves in the top ten?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Cultural French hotspot Marseille (266.1 hours monthly) and Catania on Sicily (273.7) &#8211; which are both also on the low-cost flight map.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Other sure-fire sunny weekenders also included more Southern Spanish hotspots including\u00a0Seville (273.4) and Cordoba (268.2).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Travellers led exclusively by cost might find Valencia offers the perfect mix of cut-price entertainment and sunshine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A\u00a0survey earlier this month revealed the cheapest and most expensive cities in which to be an expat &#8211;
