He&#8217;s, I think, an extremely good professional. My time in Ferrari when he was there, I found someone that was incredibly hardworking. He understood very well the driver. He had a special feeling and a special communication with drivers, which I think makes things for the driver very comfortable and very open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sainz exalts Mekies&#8217; strength<\/p>\n<p>For Sainz, Mekies\u2019 ability to understand and communicate with drivers is a defining strength. During their period together at Ferrari, that relationship left a clear impression: \u201cHe understood very well the driver. He had a special feeling and a special communication with drivers, which I think makes things for the driver very comfortable and very open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/sainz-hungaroring-689b3f93d98c3.jpg@webp.webp\" class=\"w-auto\" alt=\"Sainz Hungaroring\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Carlos Sainz at the Hungaroring<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard, during the FIA conference in Belgium, also pointed to Mekies\u2019 broad background in Formula 1, noting how his different roles have prepared him for one of the sport\u2019s biggest jobs: \u201cSince his time in the FIA, then Ferrari, now Visa [Cash App RB], and now coming in Red Bull\u2014he has plenty of experience to lead one of the biggest teams in Formula 1.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Sainz\u2019s view, that experience and professionalism make Mekies an ideal match for Red Bull at this stage: \u201cI think he&#8217;s honestly the perfect fit for that team. So, congrats to him\u2014probably he deserves that upgrade or that step up.
