Motorists have been warned Falkirk Council <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/midlands-traffic-and-travel\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">has begun enforcing a new pavement parking ban <\/a>across the region for drivers who park illegally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The new rules follow recent legislation introduced in 2019 and again in 2023. Under the new regulations for road users, motorists are told will be illegal to park on pavements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It will also be illegal to park on low verges adjacent to roads, in a way that blocks dropped kerbs, or to double park. The effort of the new rules is to protect those north of the border with sensory impairments, mobility issues, wheelchair users and families with prams or buggies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/cost-of-living\/hmrc-update-over-spying-uk-32293601\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE HMRC update over &#8216;spying&#8217; on UK households with more than 350 disciplined<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/midlands-traffic-and-travel\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Council Leader Cecil Meiklejohn said: <\/a>&#8220;Our pavements are vital pathways for pedestrians, especially those with mobility challenges and visual impairments. It\u2019s important that motorists park considerately to ensure safe access for everyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Last year, we started issuing advisory notices to help people understand the change.
