{"id":35367,"date":"2025-04-20T10:36:07","date_gmt":"2025-04-20T10:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/35367\/"},"modified":"2025-04-20T10:36:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T10:36:07","slug":"cbia-response-to-march-2025-employment-report-cbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/35367\/","title":{"rendered":"CBIA Response to March 2025 Employment Report \u00bb CBIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state\u2019s largest business organization issued the following response to today\u2019s release of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.ctdol.state.ct.us\/lmi\/laborsit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0March 2025 employment report<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith March\u2019s losses, Connecticut has now lost a concerning 4,700 jobs to begin the year,\u201d said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a particularly troubling start to the year\u2014reversing the traditional trend of first quarter job growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJob openings in Connecticut have grown 17% since before the pandemic\u2014the biggest increase in the region and more than double the national rate of 8%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver that same period, the labor force has only grown 1.3%\u2014second slowest in the region and well behind the national rate of 3.8%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConnecticut employers continue to do everything they can to attract and retain\u00a0 talent to meet the demand for their products and services.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAverage weekly earnings are up 4.7% and Connecticut has the third lowest quits rate and ninth lowest total separations rate in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet our hiring rate ranks 46th\u2014with 82,000 job openings there are 1.3 open jobs for every unemployed person in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith growing economic uncertainty, there is an urgent need for solutions that will better connect residents with the high number of job openings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CBIA is Connecticut\u2019s largest business organization, with thousands of member companies, small and large, representing a diverse range of industries from every part of the state.
