{"id":354342,"date":"2025-08-18T14:24:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T14:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/354342\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T14:24:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T14:24:16","slug":"the-british-player-who-jack-draper-has-been-practicing-on-arthur-ashe-stadium-with-ahead-of-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/354342\/","title":{"rendered":"The British player who Jack Draper has been practicing on Arthur Ashe Stadium with ahead of the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Jack Draper has enjoyed one of the best and most consistent years of his career thus far, but his season has been somewhat scuppered since Wimbledon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After all, his preparation for his home Grand Slam was hampered due to illness at Queen\u2019s, prior to picking up an injury somewhere before his shock early exit to Marin Cilic.<\/p>\n<p>This has since kept him out for the entirety of the North American swing, meaning he will head to the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Open<\/a> with no tournament preparation.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, he has at least been pictured on court yet again, with the British number one actually practicing on Arthur Ashe Court.<\/p>\n<p>Already in New York, his hitting partner was also a fellow Brit, who will enter the qualifying draw this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Draper is gearing up for the US Open<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whilst the world\u2019s very best players have all mostly been competing at the Cincinnati Open, with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner set to once again clash for the title later today, <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/jack-draper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack Draper<\/a> has been forced to watch from the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>After the remarkable run he had at the US Open last year, he would have felt confident of disrupting this duopoly on the hard courts of Cincinnati, but sadly had that opportunity stolen from him through injury.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was certainly looking fresh in one video, circulating on social media.<\/p>\n<p>In it, he is pictured practicing on none other than the legendary Arthur Ashe Court, alongside Jan Choinski, a fellow former British number one as well.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old is actually due to play in the US Open qualifying this week, and faces the challenging task of toppling the Cincinnati Open semi-finalist Terence Atmane in the very first round.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the latest on Jack Draper\u2019s fitness after Wimbledon?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With his re-emergence back onto the practice courts, it\u2019s safe to assume that Draper is back healthy enough to compete.<\/p>\n<p>And, after <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/jack-draper-reveals-what-doctors-have-advised-him-about-his-injury-as-he-gives-fitness-update-ahead-of-the-us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Draper offered a fitness update<\/a> earlier this month, we are far wiser on where he stands after a tough summer thus far.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed: \u201cI found out I had an injury in my arm, which I had been playing with for a little while.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"654\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2221330879-1024x654.jpg\" alt=\"Jack Draper looks dejected, sat on his bench\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe doctors and my team advised me that I\u2019d need to take some time out. I had a few days off, so I chilled and took my mind off tennis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the rest seems to have worked, as he went on to say: \u201cI got back to my tennis slowly to protect my arm, but it\u2019s been a really productive few weeks now. It was disappointing to miss Toronto and Cincinnati, but I think it\u2019s been a good period for me to reflect on things and improve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to going out to the US Open, and I\u2019m in a great place personally and tennis-wise.
