Morgan Rogers faced a race to be declared fit for Aston Villa in the Premier League opener against Newcastle United.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rogers sustained a minor injury setback<\/a> in the final pre-season friendly against AS Roma, but was named in the starting line-up for Aston Villa<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Villans earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Villa Park, after the hosts were forced to play the final 24 minutes with ten men after Ezri Konsa was shown a straight red card<\/a> for a challenge on Anthony Gordon.<\/p>\n

Although Unai Emery<\/a> will be undoubtedly pleased with his side\u2019s efforts, Aston Villa arguably fielded a weaker line-up than the one they fielded against Manchester United on the final day of the 2024\/25 campaign.<\/p>\n

Now, the Villans have sanctioned their first big-money departure of the transfer window, and Rogers<\/a> has issued his public response.<\/p>\n

Morgan Rogers sends farewell message to Jacob Ramsey<\/p>\n

Jacob Ramsey signed for Newcastle<\/a> in a deal worth a total of \u00a343 million after declaring his intentions to leave Villa Park this summer.<\/p>\n

Rogers responded to the breaking news via Instagram<\/a> and shared a heartfelt message to his former teammate.<\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> understands Ramsey turned down Everton and West Ham<\/a> in favour of a move to St James\u2019 Park, where he will, of course, play Champions League football this season.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old had entered the final two years of his deal in the West Midlands and had reached an impasse in negotiations, which altered the interest of Premier League<\/a> sides.<\/p>\n

Rogers played alongside Ramsey<\/a> in 42 matches for the Villans, and as evident on his Instagram post, the English pair developed a strong bond during their time together at the club.<\/p>\n

What does Ramsey\u2019s sale mean for Rogers at Aston Villa?<\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> exclusively revealed that Rogers will remain at Aston Villa<\/a> beyond the 1 September deadline in light of ongoing speculation surrounding his future.<\/p>\n

Marco Asensio,<\/a> who spent the second half of the campaign on loan from PSG last season, has emerged as a potential candidate to replace Ramsey.<\/p>\n

As revealed earlier this summer, Rogers was on Arsenal and Chelsea\u2019s radar,<\/a> but the reported interest failed to materialise and is unlikely to develop at this stage.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Aston Villa have walked the tightrope of the Premier League\u2019s Profit and Sustainability rules in recent years and have decided to sacrifice Ramsey to remain within their parameters.<\/p>\n

Therefore, unless a drastic shift in the current stances occurs, Rogers will be playing his football at Villa Park this season.<\/p>\n
