Netflix<\/strong> has finally announced the release plan for\u00a0Guillermo del Toro\u2019s<\/strong> Frankenstein<\/strong>, and the good news is that the film will be coming to the big screen in addition to streaming on Netflix. The bad news? Well, it looks like the theatrical release will be quite limited.<\/p>\n

Guillermo del Toro\u2019s Frankenstein first comes to select theaters October 17<\/strong>, the streamer has announced this morning, with the Netflix premiere to follow on November 7, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

No word yet on how many theaters GDT\u2019s Frankenstein will be released in. Stay tuned.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is, for me, the culmination of a journey that has occupied most of my life. I first read\u00a0Mary Shelley\u2018s\u00a0Frankenstein\u00a0as a kid and saw\u00a0Boris Karloff in what became for me an almost religious state. Monsters have become my personal belief system,\u201d the Academy Award-winning filmmaker told the audience at Netflix\u2019s recent Tudum event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are strands of\u00a0Frankenstein\u00a0throughout my films \u2014\u00a0Cronos, Blade, Hellboy, big time on\u00a0Pinocchio, and a long, long et cetera. Exploring the relationship between humanity and monsters, creator and creation, father and son, has consumed my stores again and again,\u201d del Toro continued. \u201cI wanted to make this film before even I had a camera, and I\u2019ve been actively pursuing it now for over 25 years It has grown so close to me that now it\u2019s biography.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film follows brilliant but egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein, who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oscar Isaac<\/strong>\u00a0(Dune) stars in Del Toro\u2019s movie as mad scientist Victor Frankenstein,\u00a0Jacob Elordi<\/strong>\u00a0(Saltburn) as Frankenstein\u2019s monster,\u00a0Mia Goth<\/strong>\u00a0(MaXXXine) as Elizabeth Lavenza, and\u00a0Christoph Waltz<\/strong>\u00a0(Inglourious Basterds) as Dr. Pretorius.<\/p>\n

Felix Kammerer<\/strong>\u00a0(All Quiet on the Western Front),\u00a0Lars Mikkelsen<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cAhsoka\u201d),\u00a0David Brad<\/strong>ley<\/strong>\u00a0(Harry Potter),\u00a0Christian Convery<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cSweet Tooth\u201d),\u00a0Ralph Ineson<\/strong>\u00a0(The Witch), and\u00a0Charles Dance<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cGame of Thrones\u201d) round out the cast.<\/p>\n

Del Toro\u2019s\u00a0Frankenstein\u00a0is rated \u201cR\u201d for \u201cbloody violence and grisly images<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n
