ROD Stewart has been banned by his wife from going to today\u2019s Scottish Cup semi-final involving his beloved Celtic.<\/p>\n

The Hoops-daft singer<\/a>, 80, rarely misses a big match and is regularly seen at home and away matches.<\/p>\n

But wife Penny Lancaster has ordered him to stay at home today<\/p>\n

But missus Penny Lancaster<\/a>, 54, has told him he has to attend a Easter family lunch in Essex instead while his team take on St Johnstone<\/a> at Hampden Park this afternoon.<\/p>\n

The father of eight, who welcomed his fourth grandchild into the world last month, told The Sunday Post: \u201cI can\u2019t come up for the semi-final. I got a proper telling off from the missus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019m spotted at the home of Scottish football rather than the home of Rod Stewart<\/a>, I can\u2019t tell you how my lovely wife may react.<\/p>\n

\u201dLet\u2019s just say I\u2019d be singing in a higher voice from now on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tam Cowan, co-host of BBC Radio Scotland\u2019s Off the Ball programme, said: \u201cSounds like a wise decision from Rod – I can\u2019t get First Cut is the Deepest out of my head.<\/p>\n

He will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue, Barry Gibb and Lionel Richie who have all appeared during the coveted Sunday afternoon slot.<\/p>\n

Announcing the news on social media,\u00a0Sir Rod<\/a>\u00a0wrote: “I\u2019m absolutely thrilled to announce that I\u2019ll be playing Glastonbury 2025!<\/p>\n
