{"id":354677,"date":"2025-08-18T17:29:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/354677\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T17:29:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:29:12","slug":"why-sergio-perez-was-kicked-from-mclarens-formula-1-team-after-struggling-in-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/354677\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Sergio Perez was &#8216;kicked&#8217; from McLaren&#8217;s Formula 1 team after struggling in 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Sergio Perez is currently waiting for another opportunity to return to the Formula 1 grid ahead of the 2026 season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Mexican driver left Red Bull at the end of last year, following what looked like a poor run of performances.<\/p>\n<p>Fast-forward 12 months, and although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/tag\/mclaren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McLaren<\/a> are dominating, those in Red Bull\u2019s second seat (Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda) have struggled so much that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/tag\/sergio-perez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Perez\u2019s<\/a> results now look very handy.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing eighth in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/f1-standings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drivers\u2019 championship<\/a> was quite impressive, and it might have put him back on some teams\u2019 radars heading into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/tag\/2026-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2026 F1 regulations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/features\/f1-fans-now-only-want-cadillac-to-sign-sergio-perez-if-dream-driver-is-his-2026-teammate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1 fans want Cadillac to sign Perez<\/a> and hand him an opportunity for redemption alongside old rival Valtteri Bottas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/news\/alpine-now-dont-want-to-know-about-signing-39-podium-driver-to-replace-franco-colapinto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alpine \u2018don\u2019t want to know\u2019 about Perez<\/a>, even though they may be in need of a driver to replace Franco Colapinto. Yes, it was quite a bit, I can\u2019t say friend because the age difference is very large, but we did get along well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut then he didn\u2019t like it when I criticised him because he left McLaren or was kicked out of McLaren, having helped him a lot to get into McLaren.
