\n\tNow, King Charles III\u2019s former butler, Grant Harrold, is looking back at his time at the palace and the forgotten friendship that lay in the wake of the family feud. He reminisced about the \u201clittle gang\u201d <\/a>formed by the trio because Kate and William always \u201cinvolved\u201d him. When the Prince of Wales was off working, it was his younger brother and his future wife hanging out together.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\tCatherine, Princess of Wales, Prince William<\/a>, Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. \n\t\u201cHe used to go out with Kate. William would be away, and Kate and Harry would be off doing stuff together,\u201d Harrold recalled to The Telegraph<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019d go shopping together, they\u2019d go to pubs together\u2026 I think when people say, \u2018Oh, he was left out,\u2019 he really wasn\u2019t. \u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAt the time, Harry was dating Chelsy Davy, and the former palace staffer noted that she was \u201calways around\u201d because \u201cChelsy and Kate got on really well<\/a>.\u201d Harrold acknowledged that he witnessed only public interactions between the royal family<\/a>, and he didn\u2019t know what went on behind closed doors.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe Duke of Sussex painted a different picture of Kate and William in his 2023 memoir, Spare, which touched on their friendship that dissolved after his wife, Meghan Markle, came into the picture. He described Kate in the book as \u201ccarefree, sweet, kind\u201d and \u201cthe sister he always wanted.\u201d But it seems that their wedding day<\/a> in 2011 marked a big shift in the friendly dynamic.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI loved my new sister-in-law, I felt she was more sister than in-law, the sister I\u2019d never had and always wanted, and I was pleased that she\u2019d forever be standing by Willy\u2019s side. She was a good match for my older brother. They made each other visibly happy, and therefore I was happy too.\u201d Harry wrote, \u201cBut in my gut, I couldn\u2019t help feeling that this was yet another farewell under this horrid roof. Another sundering. The brother I\u2019d escorted into Westminster Abbey that morning was gone \u2013 forever.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tOver the summer, there appears to be some movement in the family feud<\/a> as the Sussexes\u2019 communications team broke bread with King Charles\u2019 office in mid-July. Royal expert Hugo Vickers shared his thoughts about the royal meetup for Page Six.<\/a> \u201c[The staff] may well have just been discussing routine things, which is more than likely, but at some point you have got to reconcile,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019ll see Harry returning to royal duties, but on a personal level, it will be good if he\u2019s able to get on terms with his father.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThat meeting came on the heels of Prince Harry telling the BBC<\/a> in May that he was ready to reconcile with his family because he did \u201cnot know how much longer [his] father has\u201d in his cancer battle.
