{"id":355013,"date":"2025-08-18T20:29:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T20:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/355013\/"},"modified":"2025-08-18T20:29:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T20:29:10","slug":"mercedes-boss-toto-wolff-admits-f1-movie-scene-makes-me-cringe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/355013\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admits F1 movie scene \u2018makes me cringe\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff doesn\u2019t believe his cameo in the F1 movie is quite as great as producers claimed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Wolff, \u201cI think I did the scene five times!\u201d because he was trying to secure the best take.<\/p>\n<p>Toto Wolff pinpoints \u2018cringe\u2019 scene in the F1 movie<\/p>\n<p>This summer,\u00a0F1: The Movie\u00a0starring Brad Pitt hit theaters after several years in the making, and it proved to be the summer blockbuster its producers had hoped it would be.<\/p>\n<p>The film features Pitt as racer-for-hire Sonny Hayes, who is invited to join the APEX GP team as part of its bid to regain competitiveness and avoid takeover by investors.<\/p>\n<p>Hailed as being one of the most accurate F1 movies of all time, it featured the likes of driver Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff as executive producers, allowing them to inform the direction of the film and answer critical questions about how to best bring authenticity to the big screen.<\/p>\n<p>More on the F1 movie:<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/brad-pitt-f1-movie-insider-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brad Pitt F1 movie: An insider\u2019s complete guide to the F1 film<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/brad-pitt-f1-movie-review-worth-seeing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Six things about the F1 movie that make it a must-see<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t mean those star executive producers were necessarily excited to appear on the big screen themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Take Toto Wolff, for example; he was more than happy to inform production, but thinking about his cameo in the film, Wolff admitted to the\u00a0<strong>Wall Street Journal<\/strong> that his appearance \u201cmakes me cringe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the overall direction of the film as well as his participation, Wolff admitted, \u201cIt was interesting, being part of the conversations with Brad [Pitt] or with Javier Bardem, and [director] Joe Kosinski and [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But beyond those conversations, things got a little awkward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end I have this little cameo,\u201d Wolff said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey say it\u2019s great, but I think they\u2019re lying to me. It makes me cringe. It was in Abu Dhabi after the race. There was no hair and makeup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were like,\u00a0\u2018Let\u2019s do this now.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were a bit annoyed with me because I think I did the scene five times. I wanted it to be good \u2014 not that the outcome actually was good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wolff is referring to a scene in which he pulls aside young star Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris) after the film\u2019s bombastic conclusion in which Pearce crashes from the lead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. There, he offers the young driver a ride at Mercedes, should he find himself looking for a seat.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a brief cameo \u2014 one that Wolff admitted to practicing for in multiple languages \u2014 but it presented a new challenge for the team principal.<\/p>\n<p>Was his performance as bad as he feels it was?
