These are\u00a0the first local cases\u00a0since July 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a054 cases of imported malaria were recorded across the main island of\u00a0Mayotte.<\/p>\n<p>As of August 14, 2025, there have been\u00a0a total of 66 cases of malaria reported in Mayotte this year.<\/p>\n<p>Several imported cases, mainly from neighbouring countries in Africa, have been reported\u00a0in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>While available in Africa, malaria <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vax-before-travel.com\/malaria-vaccines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vaccines<\/a> are not offered in Mayotte.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the this mosquito-borne disease, Mayotte has been significantly impacted by the Chikungunya virus in 2025.
