In a 2018 interview, Paul was asked if John would compliment him, to which he answered: &#8220;Once &#8211; in the whole time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I think it&#8217;s &#8216;Revolver&#8217;, it was &#8216;Here, There and Everywhere&#8217;, (it) was one of my songs on it but <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/john-lennon\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"John sort of just (said) when it finishesLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">John sort of just (said) when it finishes<\/a>, &#8216;that&#8217;s a really good song that, I love that song&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Paul said his response to that was: &#8220;&#8216;Yes he likes it&#8217;. You know, I\u2019ve remembered it to this day. It\u2019s pathetic really.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It seems <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/paul-mccartney\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Paul was kinder to JohnLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul was kinder to John<\/a>, however. Asked if he would praise his bandmate&#8217;s writing, he said: &#8220;Yeah, I would tell him his stuff was great. You\u2019d normally have to be a little bit drunk, it helped.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There was another song of Paul&#8217;s on &#8216;Revolver&#8217; that John spoke fondly of, however, even if he didn&#8217;t tell Paul about it. The breakup, or marking the end of a relationship that didn\u2019t work, has always been quite a rich area to explore in a song.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Having been through it a few times \u2013 as I suppose a lot of people have \u2013 it was an emotion I could relate to, and it seemed like a good idea to put into a song because probably a lot of other people could relate to it too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;In the song, I\u2019m talking about two people who\u2019ve broken up, but obviously, as with any writer, it all comes from your own experience, and inevitably you\u2019re talking about yourself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The song was recorded at EMI in London across a number of sessions in May 1966.
