Former royal butler Grant Harrold<\/strong> is offering new insight into Prince Harry<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s relationship with his sister-in-law, Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey involved him,\u201d Harrold, 47, wrote in his upcoming book The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, according to an excerpt published by The Telegraph<\/a> on Monday, August 18. \u201cHe used to go out with Kate. William would be away, and Kate and Harry would be off doing stuff together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per Harrold, the Duke of Sussex would \u201cgo shopping\u201d and \u201cgo to pubs\u201d with Kate, now 43.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when people say, \u2018Oh he was left out,\u2019 he really wasn\u2019t,\u201d Harrold added. \u201cBut also, he was with Chelsy [Davy<\/strong>, the Prince\u2019s former girlfriend]. Chelsy was always around. And Chelsy and Kate got on really well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPrince Harry\u2019s relationship with Prince William isn\u2019t the only dynamic that has changed over the years. The Duke of Sussex\u2019s bond with his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, has gone through its own changes following his and Meghan Markle\u2019s royal exit. While Harry always had kind words for his sister-in-law \u2014 \u201cI\u2019ve known Kate for years, and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Harrold worked for King Charles III<\/strong> for seven years, which he recounts in the memoir.<\/p>\n

During his time working alongside the royal family, the former butler said Prince William<\/strong> and Harry, 40, were \u201cso close,\u201d which is quite a contrast from the current state of their estranged relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe banter was great,\u201d Harrold recalled. \u201cThey used to go around being silly with each other and winding each other up, jumping out at their dad from corners and making him laugh. It was just like a family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry and William, 43, are no longer as close as they used to be. Rumors that the brothers had a falling out<\/a> started to swirl in 2020, after Harry and wife Meghan Markle<\/strong> parted ways with the royal family and relocated to California.<\/p>\n

When Harry released his 2023 memoir Spare<\/a>, the Duke of Sussex claimed that he and William had a physical altercation in 2019<\/a> \u2014 and that their relationship was never the same.<\/p>\n

The alleged altercation came after William referred to Meghan, 44, as \u201cdifficult\u201d and \u201crude.\u201d Harry claimed in the book that William \u201cgrabbed\u201d him by the collar and \u201cknocked me to the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry has spoken candidly about the drama within his family in various interviews over the years. His most recent public comment came this past May, during an interview with the BBC<\/a> in which Harry claimed that his father Charles<\/a> \u201cwon\u2019t speak to me\u201d before sharing his hope for a possible reconciliation in the future.<\/p>\n

Rumors about mending the rift between Harry and Charles have been swirling for months \u2014 but things with William appear to stay the same<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that Harry\u2019s relationship with his brother is a different beast<\/a> than his relationship with his father,\u201d royal expert Kristen Meinzer<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. \u201cBut perhaps if Charles warms more to Harry, William will feel compelled to follow his lead.\u201d<\/p>\n
