The walkouts are timed to hit the busiest hours at airports: 5:00\u20139:00, 12:00\u201315:00, and 21:00\u201323:59.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Airports affected<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The action directly impacts Ryanair\u2019s 12 Spanish bases: Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Madrid, M\u00e1laga, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela, Sevilla, Tenerife South, and Valencia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">While airports without a fixed Ryanair base, such as Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Menorca, Santander and others, are not officially part of the strike, they may still suffer knock-on delays and cancellations due to disrupted schedules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Why workers are striking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The unions UGT and CGT say the action follows months of frustration over working conditions. Their demands include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\">&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">Stable contracts and guaranteed hours for part-time staff.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">An end to pressure and punishment for refusing extra hours.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">Compliance with sector agreements on pay and allowances.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">Fair treatment over medical leave and work-life balance.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Jos\u00e9 Manuel P\u00e9rez Grande, from UGT\u2019s aviation sector, accused Azul Handling of maintaining \u201ca strategy of precariousness and pressure that undermines basic labour rights.\u201d CGT added that the situation had become \u201cunsustainable\u201d and workers had been left with no choice but to strike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Ryanair\u2019s response<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ryanair has downplayed the disruption, insisting: \u201cWe do not expect any interruption to our operations as a result of these third-party strikes in Spain.\u201d However, the airline did admit there may be issues with take-off and landing procedures during the strike hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So far, no negotiations have been confirmed, despite union calls for mediation through Spain\u2019s conflict resolution body SIMA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>What passengers need to know<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Under EU Regulation 261\/2004, travellers whose flights are cancelled are entitled to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\">&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">Compensation of \u20ac250, \u20ac400 or \u20ac600, depending on flight distance.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">A full refund within seven days, or alternative transport to their final destination.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;\">Reimbursement for reasonable expenses, such as hotels, meals, or onward connections.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Claims can be filed directly through Ryanair\u2019s website using a booking reference and purchase email.
