\n Discarded items scattered across Marine Drive cliffside\n <\/p>\n

Piles of discarded rubbish have been seen littering the cliffside at one of the Island’s popular beauty spots.<\/p>\n

A recurring issue along Marine Drive, in recent days Manx Radio has seen dozens of fly-tipped items including a fridge, construction refuse and bin-bags.<\/p>\n

The east coast route linking Douglas and Port Soderick is something of a wildlife haven, home to all manner of species such as peregrine falcons.<\/p>\n

Bill Dale from the Manx charity Beach Buddies says it appears that there’s nothing that will stop people committing these offences:<\/p>\n

In 2021 Marine Drive was designated as\u00a0an Area of Special\u00a0Scientific Interest, meaning it’s home to\u00a0special fauna, flora, or geological or physiographical features in the context of the Isle of Man.<\/p>\n

Visitors along the stretch of road told Manx Radio they’d like to see more action taken against those who abandon their rubbish in the area.<\/p>\n

Manx Radio has approached the Isle of Man Constabulary, the Department of Infrastructure, and Braddan Commissioners for comment.<\/p>\n
