Merseyside Police have arrested a 41-year-old man<\/a> from Liverpool on suspicion of murder following the incident which occurred on Stonyhurst Road at around 11.45pm on Friday night. This is everything we know about the incident so far:<\/p>\n– Police were called to Stonyhurst Road in Woolton at around 11.45pm last night after reports that a 47-year-old man had been seriously injured when a car was reportedly driven at him.<\/p>\n
– Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital, but he died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
– A 41-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody to be questioned.<\/p>\n
– Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward.<\/p>\n
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: \u201cOur investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, but it does appear the car was deliberately driven at the man.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the best efforts of the people who came to his aid and those of paramedics, he sadly passed away in hospital. Our thoughts remain with his family at this tragic time and specially trained officers are supporting them.\u201cWe have launched an investigation into what happened and we have already arrested a suspect and seized the car we believe was involved.\u201cOur officers are continuing to carry out inquiries at the scene and studying CCTV footage to establish the full circumstances.<\/p>\n
