SINN F\u00e9in\u2019s<\/a> Michelle O\u2019Neill<\/a> has said that Ireland is living in \u201cthe end days of partition\u201d while renewing her call for a border poll by 2030.<\/p>\n

Attending her first republican Easter commemoration in Northern Ireland since becoming First Minister, Ms O\u2019Neill made the comments on Saturday to a crowd at the republican plot for St Mary and St Joseph\u2019s in Coalisland graveyard.<\/p>\n

Honouring \u201cthe sacrifices that were made by those during Easter week of 1916\u201d as well as \u201cevery generation before and since,\u201d she said: \u201dOrdinary people born in extraordinary times and today we\u2019re very mindful and thoughtful of all the families of those that have lost and we\u2019re particularly thinking of you all today.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody has a right to respectfully remember their dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stating that republicans were witnessing \u201ca pivotal moment in history\u201d and that a border poll should be held by the end of the decade, she also told the crowd: \u201cWe are living in the end days of partition.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Sinn F\u00e9in President Mary Lou McDonald is also due to address an event in Carrickmore, Co Tyrone.<\/p>\n

Sinn F\u00e9in\u2019s Donegal TD, Pearse Doherty, will address the main Belfast commemoration while his D\u00e1il colleague E\u00f3in \u00d3 Broin will be the main speaker at an event in Ardoyne.<\/p>\n

Seanad member and former Stormont economy minister, Conor Murphy, will speak at Church Square Main in Monaghan town, while South Down MP Chris Hazzard is scheduled to address the annual Dundalk commemoration and North Belfast MP John Finucane will speak at Arbour Hill in Dublin.<\/p>\n
