Ukrainian forces behind Russian lines in Zaporizhzhia have launched a major attack, destroying a fuel train, according to pro-Ukrainian sources. The Head of the Centre for the Study of Occupation, Petro Andryushchenko, said: “Nothing alive was left. Who asked why the Russians were hauling fuel and cars at night? That’s why. To avoid such losses. It didn’t work. A unique operation by the Defence Forces of Ukraine<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Images shared to Telegram show the huge train burning in several places. There has been no official comment from Ukraine<\/a> or Russia<\/a> as is stands. The logistics train was reportedly derailed in the attack which was carried out between Urozhayny and Tokmak in Ukraine<\/a>‘s south.<\/p>\n

It is not clear how the attack was launched.<\/p>\n

Ukraine<\/a> has had several successes in operations deep behind enemy lines, most notably in June when more than 100 Ukrainian drones struck air bases deep inside Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The daring operation, dubbed Spider’s Web, took more than 18 months to plan, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This latest attack comes a day after Russian missile strikes killed three and injured 20 in Zaporizhzhia City.<\/p>\n

Russian forces control significant areas of Zaporizhzhia and Vladimir Putin<\/a> reportedly told Donald Trump<\/a> he is prepared to freeze the frontline there and in Kherson, in exchange for Ukraine<\/a> withdrawing from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that make up the Donbas.<\/p>\n

The two leaders met for talks in Alaska on Friday which Mr Trump described as “productive” but no deal was reached on ending the war.<\/p>\n

However, US special envoy Steve Witkoff later confirmed the Russian President agreed at the summit that the US and its European allies could offer Ukraine<\/a> a security guarantee aking to NATO\u2019s collective defence Article 5 as part of an eventual peace deal.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump welcomed European leaders, including Mr Zelensky and Sir Keir Starmer<\/a>, to the White House on Monday for further discussions on the war.<\/p>\n

He affirmed America would back European security guarantees aimed at preventing Moscow from reinvading Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump said the US would provide Ukraine<\/a> with a “very good security guarantee” but European countries would be the “first line of defence”.<\/p>\n
