UK tourists in Spain have been warned over breaking a crucial rule which could set you back nearly \u00a32,000.<\/p>\n
Smoking regulations differ from country to country, with Spain now making its own changes in regards to smoking in the country.<\/p>\n
You can no longer smoke at all indoors in all public spaces, and while you can smoke outdoors, you should be aware there are still regulations to be followed to avoid being hit with a nasty fine.<\/p>\n
If you are planning to pop across to Spain for your holiday, it should be noted smoking on many beaches is now banned in a bid to improve the health of both those living there and holidaymakers too.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Ryanair passengers ‘too scared’ to sit next to window on flights to Spain<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The goal is to create an unpolluted space for people to enjoy the beach, without treading on cigarette butts.<\/p>\n However, this is not the only rule to be aware of, as vaping is also a big no-no in some parts of Spain at the moment, with those caught vaping in a no-vape zone facing charges up to \u20ac2,000 (~ \u00a31,726).<\/p>\n Multiple beaches across Spain are now smoke free and vape free, with the latter form of smoking now banned on 10 beaches in Barcelona and 28 in the Balearic Islands, which includes Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera, the Express <\/a>reported.<\/p>\n Spain introduced an Anti-Tobacco Law back in May, with Spain\u2019s Health Minister, M\u00f3nica Garc\u00eda, confirming that the new anti-smoking draft bill had been completed.<\/p>\n In a statement, Ms Garci\u0301a said: “We have always said it. It is time to be ambitious in the fight against smoking, one of the main threats to public health causing 30 percent of cancers.”<\/p>\n The official added that smoke-free public spaces “are backed by scientific evidence, international experience” and EU recommendations, as well as being “supported by a majority of citizens, including smokers, who are asking us to take a firm stance against the scourge of tobacco.”<\/p>\n
