At the top of one of Austria\u2019s most popular ski resorts, Stubai is projected to disappear entirely by 2033.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-27e598\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cThe end of the Alpine glaciers is really coming very, very close. And we see it. It\u2019s not modeling in the computer. Last year was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/science\/climate-change\/last-year-2024-hottest-recorded-history-nasa-rcna186193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the hottest on record<\/a>, according to NASA.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/science\/environment\/trump-will-pull-us-paris-climate-agreement-rcna188473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> The U.S. withdrawal<\/a> from the Paris climate agreement significantly undermined global climate efforts, making the already difficult goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (about 3 degrees Fahrenheit) close to impossible.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-377e0b\" class=\"body-graf\">Europe is the fastest-warming continent on Earth and Austria\u2019s temperature has risen 3.1 degrees Celsius since 1900, more than twice the global average. Studying glaciers, Fischer said, is critical to understanding where the climate is headed.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-10682c\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cGlaciers are climate archives,\u201d she said.
