After just one round of matches, though, a table has emerged based on the expected goals for each team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Expected goals (xG) is calculated on the value of chances and shots on goal from each Premier League team and has become a popular metric by which to judge teams and performances. It is used to provide a number of goals that side, theoretically, should have scored.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-fc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a> are top of the expected goals chart with 1.31 from their 4-2 victory over Bournemouth, as provided by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/footystats.org\/england\/premier-league\/xg\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">FootyStats<\/a>. United are second in the table with 1.22 xG despite failing to get on the score sheet in their defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, with new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha both having chances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Gunners, who ran out narrow winners at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/old-trafford\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Trafford<\/a> courtesy of Riccardo Calafiori&#8217;s goal from a corner, are 15th in the expected goals table with an xG of just 0.09. City, who put four goals past Wolves, have an xG of just 0.6, which puts them sixth in the standings and also behind Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/chelsea-fc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Leeds have an xG of 0.95 after their 1-0 win over Everton on Monday night, while Tottenham&#8217;s xG is 0.79 after their 3-0 victory over Burnley.
