{"id":356796,"date":"2025-08-19T12:36:37","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T12:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/356796\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T12:36:37","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T12:36:37","slug":"currentbody-owner-picks-odonnell-as-chair-ahead-of-london-float-money-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/356796\/","title":{"rendered":"CurrentBody owner picks O&#8217;Donnell as chair ahead of London float | Money News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The owner of CurrentBody, a brand of beauty technology used by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Serena Williams, has picked a director of On The Beach and The Gym Group to spearhead an autumn flotation in London.<\/p>\n<p>Sky News has learnt that Elaine O&#8217;Donnell, a former EY partner and chartered accountant, has been appointed non-executive chair of The Beauty Tech Group.<\/p>\n<p>Ms O&#8217;Donnell&#8217;s appointment comes as the Manchester-based company &#8211; which comprises the CurrentBody, ZIIP Beauty and Tria Laser brands &#8211; steps up preparations for a stock market listing which could value it at about \u00a3350m.<\/p>\n<p>Previously chair of Games Workshop, Ms O&#8217;Donnell is expected to oversee the appointment of other non-executive directors ahead of an initial public offering (IPO).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/money-latest-live-consumer-personal-finance-sky-news-13040934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Money latest: No more stamp duty? Reeves reportedly considering property tax<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The timing of an attempt to go public will be dependent upon market conditions, according to people close to the company.<\/p>\n<p>Sky News revealed earlier this year that The Beauty Tech Group had hired bankers at Berenberg to work on the plans.<\/p>\n<p>Run by co-founder and chief executive Laurence Newman, The Beauty Tech Group intends to list on the main London market.<\/p>\n<p>The company is owned by its management team &#8211; led by Mr Newman but also including co-founder and chief technology officer Andrew Showman and finance chief Sam Glynn &#8211; and a group of high-net-worth individuals.<\/p>\n<p>It describes itself as a global industry leader in home-use beauty technology, and is focused on products which use LED, radio frequency, microcurrent and laser treatments.<\/p>\n<p>A successful stock market debut would represent a positive development for the London Stock Exchange during a period when searching questions are being posed about its attractiveness as a listing destination.<\/p>\n<p>Several companies have announced plans to shift their primary listings across the Atlantic, the latest of which was payments company Wise.<\/p>\n<p>The Beauty Tech Group saw a substantial increase in revenue last year, with sales passing the \u00a3100m mark for the first time, up from \u00a380m in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Its revenues comprise just under a quarter from the UK and 77% internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of this year, it has been exclusively focused on own-brand sales.<\/p>\n<p>The beauty technology market is projected to grow from \u00a32.7bn in global sales in 2023 at a compound annual growth rate of up to 17% until 2026, according to a report by the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued to Sky News earlier this year, Mr Newman said: &#8220;2024 was another significant year financially and strategically for the Group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We delivered revenue of over \u00a3100m and successfully acquired Tria Laser while also completing the integration of ZIIP Beauty.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These acquisitions have diversified and increased the Group&#8217;s product offering across the rapidly growing beauty tech market and, in line with our strategic ambitions, the Group is now focused exclusively on own-brand products.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am pleased that the Group&#8217;s strong performance through 2024 has continued into January and I am confident that 2025 will be another record year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As increasing international demand and the Group&#8217;s operational infrastructure provide foundations for the next stage of its global growth, the Group is considering its strategic options, which includes a London IPO later this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Beauty Tech Group counts Harrods among its retail partners, while its products are also sold on more than 20 direct-to-consumer websites around the world.<\/p>\n<p>     <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/download-app\" target=\"blank\" data-tracking-label=\"ui-app-promo-download-link\" class=\"ui-app-promo sdc-article-widget\" data-type=\"\" data-component-name=\"ui-app-promo\" data-testid=\"app-promo\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>It recently partnered with Manchester University&#8217;s dermatology department to research opportunities for advanced beauty technologies relevant to areas of consumer demand, such as hair regrowth and anti-ageing.<\/p>\n<p>The company declined to comment on Ms O&#8217;Donnell&#8217;s appointment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The owner of CurrentBody, a brand of beauty technology used by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Serena&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":356797,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7757],"tags":[748,393,4884,257,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-356796","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-london","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115055465818745148","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/356796","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=356796"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/356796\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/356797"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=356796"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=356796"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=356796"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
