Indian release \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/coolie\/\" id=\"auto-tag_coolie\" data-tag=\"coolie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coolie<\/a>,\u201d with superstar <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/rajinikanth\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rajinikanth\" data-tag=\"rajinikanth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajinikanth<\/a> leading a galaxy of pan-India stars, distributed by Lights On Entertainment, followed closely at No. 3 with $1.27 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDisney\u2019s body-swap comedy \u201cFreakier Friday\u201d dropped to No. 4 in its sophomore frame, grossing $1.24 million for a running total of $5.4 million. Rounding out the top five was Disney\u2019s Marvel film \u201cThe Fantastic Four: First Steps,\u201d which earned $930,095 and now stands at $28.1 million after four weeks on release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOutside the top five, Universal\u2019s \u201cThe Bad Guys 2\u201d was at No. 6 with $733,648, lifting its cume to $11.9 million. Paramount\u2019s \u201cThe Naked Gun\u201d remake held seventh place with $700,593, for a total of $7.6 million. Miracle Comms\u2019 \u201cTogether\u201d was at No. 8 with $681,293.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYash Raj Films\u2019 action sequel \u201cWar 2\u201d bowed at No. 9 with $680,025, while Universal\u2019s \u201cNobody 2\u201d rounded out the top 10, debuting with $642,716.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAmong upcoming releases, on Wednesday, Paul Dugdale\u2019s documentary \u201cYungblud. Are You Ready, Boy?\u201d opens on 100-plus screens. It sees the British musician performing live tracks from his June 20 album Idols at the historic venue, Berlin\u2019s Hansa Studios. Wednesday also sees the release of Studiocanal\u2019s Stephen King adaptation \u201cThe Life of Chuck,\u201d starring Tom Hiddleston. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFriday sees a wide launch for \u201cDongji Rescue,\u201d a large-scale wartime drama co-directed by Guan Hu and Fei Zhenxiang. Starring Zhu Yilong, Wu Lei, Ni Ni and William Franklyn-Miller, the film recounts the harrowing 1942 Lisbon Maru incident, when Chinese fishermen saved hundreds of British prisoners of war. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMunro Film Services Ltd is opening \u201cThe Regulars,\u201d a comedy set in and following the employees of London\u2019s iconic Prince Charles cinema, while Dogwoof is bowing acclaimed Gaza documentary \u201cPut Your Soul On Your Hand And Walk.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAlso new this week is \u201cThe Thursday Murder Club,\u201d Chris Columbus\u2019 adaptation of Richard Osman\u2019s bestselling crime novel. Headlined by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, the Netflix-backed title reaches 25-plus locations. For art-house audiences, Nabin Subba\u2019s acclaimed Nepalese drama \u201cA Road to a Village\u201d rolls out via Underground Slate, while Dag Johan Haugerud continues his Oslo cycle with \u201cOslo Stories Trilogy: Sex.\u201d Jack King\u2019s Edinburgh-winning drama \u201cCeremony\u201d and Eva Victor\u2019s Cannes-debuting dark comedy \u201cSorry, Baby,\u201d featuring Victor alongside Naomi Ackie and Lucas Hedges, are also opening. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFrom Kazoo Films comes animation \u201cGrand Prix of Europe,\u201d and Universal is opening Ari Aster\u2019s contemporary western \u201cEddington,\u201d starring Joaquin Phoenix, Deirdre O\u2019Connell, Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal.
