Sheffield Wednesday are still facing an uncertain future despite speculation a move by the government could force a takeover.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Dejphon Chansiri is under pressure to sell the Owls<\/a>\u00a0following the ongoing financial concerns at Hillsborough.\u00a0<\/p>\n Finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider<\/strong> Sheffield Wednesday are only worth around \u00a370million<\/a>, but Chansiri is understood to be looking for around \u00a3100million. <\/p>\n The\u00a0Athletic<\/a>\u00a0reported on 12 August The Labour Party is fast-tracking secondary legislation to ensure the powers of the new independent football regulator (IFR) will be switched on by November.\u00a0<\/p>\n It said the move will increase pressure on under-fire owners such as\u00a0Chansiri<\/a>\u00a0to sell\u00a0Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> before the regulator becomes legally established, with a new bill allowing owners to be stripped of their rights to run clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n This article contains exclusive comment from\u00a0Stefan Borson<\/a>, a former financial adviser to\u00a0Man City. <\/p>\n Former Crystal Palace co-owner\u00a0John Textor has been linked with a Sheffield Wednesday takeover<\/a>\u00a0alongside football financier Keith Harris.\u00a0<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n The American billionaire owns majority stakes in French club Lyon, Brazilian first division outfit Botafogo and Belgian side RWD Molenbeek through Eagle Football Holdings. <\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong> about the government\u2019s latest move,\u00a0Borson\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cI think it\u2019s probably going to come all a bit too late for the Sheffield Wednesday process.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d be really surprised if the Sheffield Wednesday situation is still as fraught in November. <\/p>\n \u201cIf it is, I think that\u2019s going to be pretty painful for Sheffield Wednesday, and it\u2019s going to be a very demanding first issue for the independent regulator to deal with.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThey have got quite extensive powers. I did go through it last week. You can actually pull the act off the web now.
