\n The cubs were just one week old and without a mother when they were rescued by Howletts Wild Animal Trust, a wildlife and conservation charity based in Kent.\n<\/p>\n
\n When the cubs unexpectedly developed complex medical issues, the charity reached out to Ben Harris \u2013 clinical director at Wear Referrals in Bradbury.\n<\/p>\n

\n Ben said: \u201cThe lion cubs \u2013 a male named Cazzo and his three sisters Simbi, Kari and Zimmy \u2013 initially appeared well but then became lethargic and stopped eating and drinking.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBlood tests showed marked abnormalities in blood sodium and potassium levels. Despite intensive treatment, first the male and then the female cubs developed seizures.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe team and I at Wear worked closely with Jane and her team at Howletts to determine the best course of treatment over the following month.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
