Bristol Rovers were denied a first League Two win of the season by Oldham captain Tom Conlon as they played out a goalless stalemate at the Memorial Stadium.<\/b><\/p>\n
In the end, the Gas had to be content with a first point this campaign but it could have been very different had Conlon not come to the rescue to clear Alfie Kilgour’s header off the line on the hour mark.<\/p>\n
The West Country side had struggled to create clear-cut chances with Macauley Southam-Hales denied by Mathew Hudson in the first half before Isaac Hutchinson headed wide as the hosts turned up the pressure.<\/p>\n
Micky Mellon’s Oldham had their moments in attack and Kane Drummond fired the ball over following Ryan Woods’ free-kick.<\/p>\n
It was a frustrating night for Rovers manager Darrell Clarke, who was booked late on as the agonising wait to celebrate a victory \u2013 for both sides \u2013 continued following his return to the club following his December 2018 exit.<\/p>\n
Clarke was left holding his head in his hands in stoppage-time when Jack Sparkes’ 20-yard free-kick thundered off Hudson’s crossbar.<\/p>\n
