A Birmingham Poundland store that was not featured on a recently-published list of branch closures has shut down for good.<\/p>\n

The discount giant confirmed the locations of 48 store closures earlier this week, with more planned for September.<\/p>\n

Clearance sales were launched at 15 sites across the country ahead of imminent the imminent closure, with bosses saying the plans would ‘allow us to get back on track’.<\/p>\n

Three Birmingham<\/a> stores were included on the wider closure list, with Kings Heath<\/a> and Sheldon branches set to shut on August 24 and Erdington<\/a> to follow on August 31.<\/p>\n

The prominent store at Selly Oak’s Battery Retail Park was not featured on the list, but has since permanently closed down.<\/p>\n

Following an ‘everything must go’ sale, signs in the window of the unit in between The Gym Group gym and TK Maxx told shoppers: “Sorry, this store is now closed.”<\/p>\n

There is another store nearby in Selly Oak<\/a> Shopping Park, which replaced Wilko after the bargain retailer fell into administration.<\/p>\n

Darren MacDonald, retail director at Poundland, said previously: “While our anticipated network of around 650 to 700 stores remains sizeable, it is of course, sincerely regrettable that we’re closing a number of stores to allow us to get us back on track.<\/p>\n

“We entirely understand how disappointing it will be for customers when a store nearby closes, but we look forward to continuing to welcome them to one of our other locations.<\/p>\n
