{"id":358264,"date":"2025-08-20T02:02:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T02:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/358264\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T02:02:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T02:02:12","slug":"altrincham-among-uks-highest-inheritance-tax-payers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/358264\/","title":{"rendered":"Altrincham among UK&#8217;s highest inheritance tax payers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Altrincham residents are among the highest inheritance tax payers in the UK, new analysis has revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Estates in the Altrincham and Sale West constituency paid an average of \u00a3451,220 in inheritance tax during 2022\/23, placing the area in the top 10 nationally and making it the only location outside London to feature in the rankings.<\/p>\n<p>The figures, compiled by law firm Irwin Mitchell using government data, put the Greater Manchester constituency alongside some of the capital&#8217;s wealthiest boroughs including Kensington, Chelsea and Hampstead.<\/p>\n<p>Only nine other constituencies across the UK recorded higher average inheritance tax payments, with Kensington topping the list at \u00a31.375 million per estate. <\/p>\n<p>Andrea Jones, National Head of Irwin Mitchell&#8217;s Private Client Advisory team, said the results reflect rising property values and wealth in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Altrincham&#8217;s inclusion in the top 10 reflects the rising value of estates in the North West,&#8221; she said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With property prices and asset portfolios growing, families here face increasingly complex inheritance tax challenges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as the government prepares to introduce significant changes to inheritance tax rules following the autumn budget. <\/p>\n<p>From April 2026, business and agricultural property reliefs will be capped at \u00a31 million, while unused pension funds will become subject to inheritance tax from April 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Altrincham residents are among the highest inheritance tax payers in the UK, new analysis has revealed.
