{"id":358493,"date":"2025-08-20T04:09:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T04:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/358493\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T04:09:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T04:09:13","slug":"how-prince-harry-and-prince-william-really-felt-when-queen-camilla-and-king-charles-got-married","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/358493\/","title":{"rendered":"How Prince Harry and Prince William Really Felt When Queen Camilla and King Charles Got Married"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Former royal butler Grant Harrold said that he never saw any \u201canimosity\u201d between Prince Harry and the rest of his immediate family\u2014despite an ongoing family rift that has lasted for years.<\/li>\n<li>Harrold worked for Prince Charles when he married Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, and said that the former Prince of Wales was the \u201chappiest\u201d he\u2019d ever seen him during that period.<\/li>\n<li>Charles\u2019s sons Harry and Prince William also seemed happy with the marriage, even decorating the couple\u2019s car as they drove away from their wedding ceremony.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> From his vantage point, royal butler Grant Harrold said he never saw any issues between <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/king-charles-checking-on-prince-harry-princess-eugenie-8735587\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a> and the royal family\u2014and said that Harry and brother <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-william-wont-be-pushed-around-11759097\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince William<\/a> seemed supportive of their father <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/king-charles-begged-prince-william-not-make-mistake-he-made-11737354\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Charles<\/a>\u2019s 2005 marriage to <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/queen-camilla-confusing-response-princess-diana-confrontation-8737754\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Camilla Parker Bowles<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p> Prince William, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry, and King Charles in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/royal-family\/2025\/08\/18\/royal-butler-grant-harrold-charles-william-harry\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Telegraph<\/a> ahead of the publication of his book The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, Harrold said that when he started working as a butler to the future <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/king-charles-royal-duties-war-veterans-first-appearance-photos-8610962\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Charles<\/a>\u2014whom Harrold called \u201cvery gentle\u201d\u2014Charles and Camilla were still living apart, but they spent ample time together. When they married in 2005, Harrold said that Charles was the \u201chappiest\u201d he had ever seen him.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> After they married, \u201cCharles and Camilla were catching a flight to head straight to Birkhall [on the Balmoral estate],\u201d Harrold wrote. \u201cWe all went outside to wave them off and laughed as we saw William and Harry had decorated their car with \u2018Just Married.\u2019\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cAs they drove off through the arches to cheers, the boys raced after the car,\u201d Harrold added.\n<\/p>\n<p> King Charles and Queen Camilla on their 2005 wedding day.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Graham\u00a0\/\u00a0Contributor \/ Getty Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Harrold\u2019s retelling of the events of that April day 20 years ago differs from Harry\u2019s, who wrote in Spare\u2014his 2023 memoir\u2014that he had \u201ccomplex feelings\u201d about Camilla marrying his father, adding that William did, too.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201c\u2018We support you,\u2019\u201d Harry wrote. \u201c\u2018We endorse Camilla,\u2019 we said. \u2018Just please don\u2019t marry her. Just be together, Pa.\u2019 He didn\u2019t answer. But she answered. Straight away.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p> Queen Camilla, King Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cShortly after our private summits with her, she began to play the long game, a campaign aimed at marriage and eventually the Crown (with Pa\u2019s blessing, we presumed),\u201d Harry continued.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Harrold added that Charles, Camilla, William, and Harry \u201cgot on so well,\u201d which is why Harry\u2019s account of his rift with the royal family has been so confusing to the former royal butler.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThe four of them, I promise you, got on so well,\u201d Harrold said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s why I don\u2019t understand what Harry\u2019s said. I really don\u2019t understand.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p> Prince William, Queen Camilla, King Charles, and Prince Harry in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cI saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together,\u201d Harrold continued, adding that he saw \u201cno animosity\u201d between Harry and his immediate family during his time as a royal butler.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThe King used to do things to make them laugh and giggle,\u201d Harrold said. Of the King specifically, Harrold added that Charles was \u201cvery calm\u201d and \u201cdidn\u2019t once raise his voice\u201d when he worked with him: \u201cHe works hard and he doesn\u2019t suffer fools,\u201d Harrold said. \u201cHe gets on with everyone.
