The Estonia-based company has just confirmed a “world first” with its latest battery-powered bikes able to get a refill using standard USB-C. Yes, that finally means when you ride to the office you’ll be able to boost the tank using just your laptop charger.

Until now, all e-bikes have needed a unique and dedicated charger which means lugging a big and heavy power pack in your bag in case things run flat.

Ampler now appears to have fixed this pretty annoying flaw. The company says its USB-C socket should take the battery from flat to full in around three hours.

Another bonus of this upgrade is that you can also use the standard socket to refill your phone using any power that’s left in the bike’s battery.

“Charge your e-bike with a regular laptop charger or top up your phone battery by using the bike as a power bank. Stay on the road & get your bike to full charge in just 3 hours,” Ampler explained on its website.

Along with that nifty way of charging, the Ampler Nova also features a lightweight 17.4kg design, 9-speed gear system and up to 70 miles of range depending on the terrain and how much assistance you require from the battery.

There is even fully integrated GPS tracking for added security, and it comes with a two-year warranty plus a 14-day free return if you don’t like it.

There are five colours to choose from including Glacier, Rock Green, Pistachio and Soft Plum plus you get three frame sizes (50cm, 54cm and 58cm).

Along with the standard version, there is also the Nova Pro, which features a more active riding position, 10-speed gears, and a rear carrier (that’s an optional extra on the entry-level Nova).

There’s lots to like. The only slight sticking point might be its price.

Like all e-bikes, the Ampler Nova is not cheap. Prices start at over €3,000—that’s around £2,600—and the Pro will set you back €3,490.

If that hasn’t put you off, then you can pre-order now.

Anyone who has been thinking about joining the e-bike revolution might want to take a look at the…

[7
2065,2066,2067,53,16,15,2068
0":"post-3586","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-technology","8":"tag-ampler-nova","9":"tag-e-bike","10":"tag-electric-bike","11":"tag-technology","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom","14":"tag-usb-c-charging
["GET
