Wrexham take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship on Saturday, and Phil Parkinson\u2019s side have just been handed a major boost as they search for their first win of the season. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Wrexham<\/a> have so far played two games in the Championship. On the opening day, Wrexham were beaten 2-1 by Southampton<\/a>, before then losing 3-2 at home to West Brom last time out. <\/p>\n

It leaves the Dragons in 19th place of the Championship table, and whilst it\u2019s still early doors this season, there are a number of fans who are starting to fear for this season ahead.<\/p>\n

The Championship is relentless and there are some huge teams vying with Wrexham for promotion to the Premier League, but Phil Parkinson<\/a> will be confident his side can eventually come good.<\/p>\n

Wrexham have recently signed Nathan Broadhead for \u00a310m<\/a> and reports on Tuesday revealed that Wrexham are close to signing Callum Doyle<\/a> from Manchester City in an \u00a38m deal.<\/p>\n

Should Doyle arrive in time for the Sheffield Wednesday game on Saturday, it will be a huge boost for Wrexham. And there is also some bad news coming out of Hillsborough which will work in Wrexham\u2019s favour.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday are a club in turmoil. The Owls are failing to pay players on time and have seen an exodus of first-team names this summer, with Josh Windass leaving Sheffield Wednesday as a free agent<\/a> and subsequently signing for Wrexham. The striker, however, won\u2019t be going up against his former team next weekend, after it was revealed that Windass will be sidelined for up to eight weeks<\/a> with a muscle injury sustained against West Brom.<\/p>\n

However, Sheffield Wednesday fans will be worried about a potential heavy loss at the Racecourse this weekend, with first-team goalkeeper Pierce Charles looking set to miss out through injury. The Star<\/a> report that the Northern Ireland international faces a spell on the sidelines after his shoulder injury proved worse than first thought.<\/p>\n

The concern is that the Owls do not have a tested first-team goalkeeper to call upon. They have three youth goalkeepers who are all untried in the Championship and so Wrexham will try to take advantage of what is a rather dire goalkeeping situation at Wednesday, and get their first win of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Once again, Sheffield Wednesday are another team who Wrexham have barely played this century and in their history. The last time Wrexham and Sheffield Wednesday met was way back in 2006 in a League Cup clash, which Wrexham actually won 4-1 away at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n

The last League meeting between the two was in League One in January 2005, which Sheffield Wednesday won 4-0 at Hillsborough.
