The idea behind this is to deliver regeneration of the town centre, attract further investment, and deliver vital new housing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In order to do this, Tameside council is now looking to remediate some of their own land in order to kickstart this project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Council car parks on Waterloo Road and Castle Street, as well as vacant land on Caroline Street and Bridge Street are all touted for remediation. This means, if plans are approved, the land parcels would have pollutants or contaminants removed so it is safe to reuse for future development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">To see planning applications; traffic and road diversions and layout changes; and more, visit the Public Notices Portal <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/publicnoticeportal.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"HERELink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Once this land is remediated, the local authority can surge ahead with their planned redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A Tameside council spokesperson said: \u201cI can confirm that these are the council owned sites identified for new residential development and the new multi-storey car park in the case of Waterloo Road.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_CGI-of-what-Castle-Street-could-look-like-under-future-Stalybridge-vision.jpg\" alt=\"CGI of what Castle Street could look like under future Stalybridge vision\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>CGI of what Castle Street could look like under future Stalybridge vision(Image: Tameside Council)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThis is set out in the Stalybridge Town Centre Framework, Stalybridge West Development Prospectus and on the Council Regenerating Stalybridge webpages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThese planning applications are required so that the land can be remediated to enable future development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The proposed new multi-level car park would replace existing surface level car parking that would be lost through the remediation process.
