But for those with kids there are nearly two weeks to fill with activities before the schools return in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/family-kids-news\/50-things-kids-around-manchester-32027588\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Thankfully there\u2019s lots of things to do with kids of all ages across Greater Manchester, many of which are free to do &#8211; good news for parents who are sticking to a budget.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One wallet-friendly activity to do is visit a museum, many of which are completely free. We\u2019ve got so many to choose from across the region, covering everything from social history to war.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Portland Basin Museum in Ashton-under-Lyne is one that\u2019s regularly top-rated by families. Throughout are mannequins and antiques which bring the scenes to life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There are lots of interactive elements which kids will love. Following a visit in July one visitor,Vanessa, wrote on Tripadvisor: \u201cVisited Portland Basin museum with our Grandson who is six years old. He absolutely loved the old fashioned street and all the interactive parts. It really sparked his imagination. You walk down a 1920s street and visit a grocer\u2019s, a chippy, a pub and a doctor\u2019s surgery to name a few.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIt is really good for children, lots to learn and very interactive and all for free!
