Meet Brandon Robinson-Thompson, (potentially) one of Britain’s coolest golfers. <\/b><\/p>\n
Affectionately known as BRT, the 32-year-old from the Isle of Wight is thriving in his debut year on the DP World Tour. <\/p>\n
This week he tees up at the British Masters as he chases a first win since claiming his tour card earlier this year.<\/p>\n
“It’s my first year out on tour and I’m an older rookie, you could say,” he told BBC Sport. <\/p>\n
“I’m really enjoying playing golf on the world stage and every time I play I’m learning. I just love the game. <\/p>\n
“No matter what happens, although I’d rather win, I love competing and for me that is what it is all about.”<\/p>\n
Robinson-Thompson came closest to winning on the DP tour back in February when he finished third at the Qatar Masters. <\/p>\n
More recently, he played well in the Turkish Open where on the Saturday he lead before eventually sealing a fourth-placed finish. <\/p>\n
This year in 20 tournaments he has made the cut on 13 occasions and finished inside the top 10 four times. <\/p>\n
Despite the disappointment of being yet to win on the tour, Robinson-Thompson insists that his mindset is what sets him apart from the rest. <\/p>\n
He has previously admitted that he deals with pressure by simply enjoying his golf. <\/a><\/p>\n “I hate to tell everyone, because it is my secret sauce,” he said. <\/p>\n “But I do tend to enjoy myself no matter what.” <\/p>\n As well as the 2023 Open Championship, Robinson-Thompson played at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst.<\/p>\n “It just makes you want to play in them every year,” he added. “I will do eventually but for now I’ve had a taste of the biggest stage and it is addictive.”<\/p>\n Away from top-class golf, style is a big part of Robinson-Thompson’s game. <\/p>\n Never one to shy away from wearing loud colours on the golf course, he once matched a bright orange bodywarmer with a purple polo at the 2023 Open. <\/p>\n These days he dons his well put together outfits alongside his silky smooth swing in eye-catching video edits and compilations on his social media pages., external<\/a> <\/p>\n
