{"id":360003,"date":"2025-08-20T17:47:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T17:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/360003\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T17:47:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T17:47:13","slug":"barnet-house-prices-outpace-london-average","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/360003\/","title":{"rendered":"Barnet house prices outpace London average"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The average Barnet house price in the year to June was \u00a3586,594 \u2013 a 1.2% increase on May reports Sonja Tutty, Data Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1658510373959.jpg\" alt=\"Estate agent signs with the word 'Sold' most prominent\" class=\"wp-image-8840\"  \/>The average UK house price increased by 3.7% in the 12 months to June \u2013 (Credit \u2013 Radar)<\/p>\n<p>House prices in Barnet increased in June, rising more than the average across London, new figures show.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/economy\/inflationandpriceindices\/bulletins\/privaterentandhousepricesuk\/august2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Figures from the Office for National Statistics<\/a> show the average Barnet house price in the year to June was \u00a3586,594 \u2013 a 1.2% increase on May.<\/p>\n<p>It was higher the average across London, where prices increased by 0.6%.<\/p>\n<p>The rise in Barnet does not reverse the longer-term trend in the area, which has seen property prices in the area suffer a 5.5% annual decline.<\/p>\n<p>It means the area ranked 32nd among London\u2019s 33 local authorities for annual growth, with the average price in Barnet falling by \u00a334,000 over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>The highest annual growth in London was in Bromley, where property prices increased on average by 9.5%.<\/p>\n<p>At the other end of the scale, properties in Wandsworth lost 7% of their value.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/24759992\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">average UK house price increased by 3.7%<\/a> in the 12 months to June.<\/p>\n<p>ONS head of housing market indices Aimee North said: \u201cHouse price annual inflation continues to pick up with the average UK house price now at around \u00a3269,000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jean Jameson, chief sales officer at Foxtons, said: \u201cJuly brought a steady pace of activity, even as the summer holidays took some buyers and sellers out of the market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat said, well-priced homes, especially one and two-bed flats where supply is strongest, continued to attract interest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve also seen an encouraging shift in sentiment following the recent base rate cut, which should support a pick-up in activity as we move towards the autumn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Emerson, chief executive of Propertymark, said: \u201cHouse price growth is widely regarded as being an important factor in boosting overall economic progress, so it is reassuring to see yet more headway as the housing market continues to see momentum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite the impact that Stamp Duty hikes and domestic and global factors have had on the economy, there are still convincing reasons to be optimistic about the property market in general.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTotal housing construction output has grown recently, and the UK government and the devolved administrations are keen to meet their ambitious housing targets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditional new housing stock should provide people with extra choice in the longer term and help enable those who aspire to buy grasp their ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Independent news outlets like ours \u2013 reporting for the community without rich backers \u2013 are under threat of closure, turning British towns into news deserts.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The audiences they serve know less, understand less, and can do less.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If our coverage has helped you understand our community a little bit better, please consider supporting us with a monthly, yearly or one-off donation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose the news.
