Tottenham fans would be delighted with the news that Spurs have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace over Eberechi Eze<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, those who were dreaming of a potential Eze<\/a>-Savinho link-up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium<\/a> this season look likely to be disappointed.<\/p>\n

This is because it has been reported over the last 24 hours that Man City have decided against cashing in on Savinho<\/a> despite initially contemplating it.<\/p>\n

It has been reported by some sources that Pep Guardiola has decided that he cannot lose Savinho<\/a>, even though the player wants to make the move to N17 and Tottenham are willing to spend a club-record fee on the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n

Journalist Greame Bailey has now backed up that claim, insisting that Guardiola is the one who intervened to stop the deal despite the City hierarchy\u2019s willingness to sell.<\/p>\n

He alleged that the Manchester club have now informed the former Girona man that a move to Spurs<\/a> is completely out of the question this summer.<\/p>\n

Bailey told TBR Football<\/a>: \u201cSavinho has been informed that the deal is a non-starter. I believe it was possible, but with just a few weeks left, it is not ideal.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, as we reported, Pep Guardiola did not want to lose him, and I am told that was key. The hierarchy were open to a deal, but they wouldn\u2019t simply go against Guardiola.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why the Savinho development is very surprising<\/p>\n

It has been widely reported that Savinho is very keen on joining Tottenham<\/a> as he wants to play regularly ahead of next year\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n

It has been reported by several sources, including David Ornstein, that Guardiola does not stand in the way of players who want to leave City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We have also heard that the City hierarchy want to cash in on Savinho<\/a>. For Guardiola to suddenly step in and stop the deal seems a little strange.<\/p>\n
