A city centre<\/a> square was closed off by emergency services<\/a> as they responded to an alleged gas leak and power cut.<\/p>\n

Blair Street and the adjacent Hunter Square had a cordon erected at its entrance while officers, firefighters, paramedics and SGN workers attended the site.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said they sent three appliances to the incident after receiving a report of a ‘chemical smell’ in the air at 4.32pm. They confirmed they later left the site at 7.19pm.<\/p>\n

SGN confirmed they were in attendance after a \u2018chemical smell\u2019 was reported in the area. They added \u2018carbon monoxide\u2019 was detected at the Tron and the building was secured.<\/p>\n

In a statement SGN said: \u201cWe received a call out from the SFRS who were in attendance at the Tron Tavern. Carbon monoxide was detected and gas supply to the building was isolated to make the situation safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe left the incident last night and advised the Tron to remain closed until the council can carry out an inspection.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SFRS said: \u201cWe received a report of a chemical smell in the area at 16.32pm yesterday and mobilised two appliances and dim appliance.<\/p>\n

“We remained on scene until 7.19pm.”<\/p>\n

It is not known if The Tron has reopened. The bar has been approached for comment.<\/p>\n
