Top Rank has signed WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr.<\/a> to a multi-year contract extension, it was announced on Wednesday.
The news was released while Norman prepares to make the third defense of his title against Devin Haney<\/a> on Nov. 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I watch Brian Norman Jr., I think of all the legendary welterweights I\u2019ve promoted,” said Top Rank boss Bob Arum. “He has the physical tools and maturity required to become a generational fighter.<\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to be part of the next phase of Brian\u2019s career, which I believe will see him ascend from world champion to the top of the pound-for-pound list.\u201d<\/p>\n

Norman (28-0, 22 KOs) has been tied to Top Rank since signing with the promotional company in December 2022, when he was 22-0. <\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in loyalty,\u201d Norman said. \u201cTop Rank believed in me from the start, and I\u2019m proud to keep building with the home team. We\u2019re only getting started.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a stretch of workmanlike wins, Norman officially made his mark last year by viciously knocking out Giovani Santillan<\/a> to win the WBO interim title. <\/p>\n

Norman was elevated to full titleholder when former undisputed champion Terence Crawford left the division a year ago. After recovering from hand surgery, he successfully defended the crown this year against Derrieck Cuevas and Jin Sasaki. <\/p>\n

His fifth-round stoppage against Sasaki<\/a> was a sensational win on the road in Japan and one of the leading contenders for knockout of the year. <\/p>\n

“It has been a total team effort to get Brian Norman Jr. to where he is today,\u201d said Adrian Clark, CEO of Fighters First Management.<\/p>\n

Norman, a 24-year-old from Decatur, Georgia, is the second-youngest male champion in the sport. <\/p>\n

DraftKings lists Norman as a minus-135 betting favorite to beat the plus-105 underdog Haney. <\/p>\n
