Now the French club could get another one over Daniel Farke.

Leeds United have made some strong moves in the summer transfer window so far. In total, nine new players have joined Leeds United and it looks like several more could yet arrive before the September 1st transfer deadline.

In particular, Daniel Farke looks as though he’s targeting some attacking additions with a new number 10 among those positions he’s wanting to bolster.

The main target of late has been Bilal El Khannouss but reports indicate that Crystal Palace are set to win the race for El Khannouss, meaning Leeds United may quickly turn their attentions elsewhere, and one name they could turn their attentions to is Facundo Buonanotte.

Photo by Jon Hobley | MI News/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesUpdate on Leeds United transfer target Facundo Buonanotte

Reports in recent weeks have linked Leeds United with a move for Buonanotte. The Brighton man spent last season on loan with Leicester City playing 31 times in the Premier League, scoring five and assisting twice. Some reports have indicated that the Italian could be available for around the £25m mark this summer.

But Leeds may now be facing another transfer battle with Marseille with reports from La Tribune suggesting that both El Khannouss and Buonanotte are a target for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. La Tribune indicate that El Khannouss looks set to be joining Crystal Palace, adding that Buonanotte is also being targeted by Marseille.

Earlier in the summer, Marseille beat Leeds United in the race to sign Igor Paixao from Feyenoord eventually, after a lot of back and forth and a lot of effort from Elland Road to make the deal happen.

Photo By Stephen McCarthy/Sportsfile via Getty ImagesBrendan Aronson makes decision on his Leeds United future

The number 10 position was a key one for Leeds United last season, but many Leeds fans were divided by the performances of Brenden Aaronson. This season, it looks as though Ao Tanaka could fill that role for the time being, or Farke may well play with no out-and-out number 10, but more of a number eight.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Either way, that position and that area is one that Farke could do with another body in, even though Aaronson is set to stay at Leeds United. Recently, Leeds United News revealed that Aaronson is happy to stay at Leeds United despite having had interest from elsewhere in Europe, and despite having fallen down the pecking order following promotion to the Premier League.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey told us: “Brenden Aaronson has had a good pre-season. There was talk he would look for a return to the Bundesliga but that did not come to pass and he is happy at Elland Road.

“To be fair, Daniel Farke hasn’t really tried to move him. Leeds really want squad depth so even if we saw late moves for Manor Solomon and Emi Buendia or more, that doesn’t mean Aaronson would leave. Far from it.”

Should Farke have Buonanotte and Aaronson, for example, as his options in the number 10 position for this season, it will give him some good depth and good quality, and competition that could bring Aaronson back to his best.

Leeds United fans will remember the Igor Paixao pursuit and how it ended in a Marseille win.
