LEEDS\u2019 interest in\u00a0Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone has increased ahead of a potential \u00a310million raid.<\/p>\n

The Whites\u00a0want a new No\u200a.1 and have the cash to land an experienced shotstopper to replace Illan Meslier<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meslier, 25, has had his critics this season with multiple errors that have led to goals.<\/p>\n

The French stopper was once linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United.<\/p>\n

However, his high-profile mistakes have seen him edge closer to the exit door at Elland Road.<\/p>\n

His contract in Yorkshire expires in 2026, and Red Devils keeper scout\u00a0Tony Coton is still keen on him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now Johnstone is on their radar as moves for Burnley\u2019s James Trafford<\/a> and Newcastle\u2019s Nick Pope<\/a> may be too dear and difficult.<\/p>\n

Four-cap England ace\u00a0Johnstone, 32, has lost his place at Wolves under boss Vitor Pereira.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Portuguese manager has preferred his compatriot, Jose Sa, to Johnstone between the sticks.<\/p>\n

The Englishman has not played since December when Wolves lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even after injury to Sa ahead of the game against Manchester United<\/a>, the boss opted to call on Dan Bentley ahead of Johnstone.<\/p>\n

They will sell to lose his wages, but it is a large salary that also makes a Championship<\/a> move unlikely for the ex-Crystal Palace man.<\/p>\n

Johnstone started his career coming through the academy of Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, he never made a Premier League appearance for the Red Devils despite loans to seven different clubs.<\/p>\n

He joined West Brom<\/a> in 2018 and cemented himself as the first choice while also attracting interest from England.<\/p>\n

Johnstone spent four years at the Hawthorns before moving to Palace and Wolves.<\/p>\n
