Up next from\u00a0Sting<\/a> and\u00a0Wyrmwood<\/a>\u00a0writer\/director\u00a0Kiah Roache-Turner<\/a><\/strong> is a shark attack survival movie set during WWII titled Beast of War<\/strong>, and the official trailer is unleashing intense shark survival thrills this afternoon.<\/p>\n

The period WWII film is loosely based on real-life events, pitting soldiers against a great white shark, and will be released in theaters and on VOD from Well Go USA on\u00a0October 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Beast of War\u00a0\u201cfollows a warship carrying hundreds of Australian soldiers across the Timor Sea to the frontline of WWII. Suddenly, Japanese fighter jets scream out of the sky, and within minutes the ocean becomes a hell of steel, fire, oil, and blood. While a handful of soldiers build a makeshift raft from floating debris as they cling to their lives, their biggest battle is yet to come. In the dark below, the ultimate apex predator \u2014 a great white shark \u2014 hunts in the wreckage and is drawn to the smell of fresh blood in the water.\u201d<\/p>\n

The horror movie stars Mark Coles Smith<\/strong> (We Bury the Dead<\/a>), Joel Nankervis,<\/strong>\u00a0Sam Delich<\/strong>,\u00a0Lee Tiger Halley<\/strong>,\u00a0Sam Parsonson<\/strong>,\u00a0Maximillian Johnson<\/strong>,\u00a0Tristan McKinnon<\/strong>, and\u00a0Aswan Reid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Beast of War is rated \u201cR\u201d for \u201cbloody violent content, gore and language\u201d and the trailer below whets your appetite for intense shark carnage. Even better is that the shark is practical.<\/p>\n

Formation Effects<\/strong>\u00a0handled the movie\u2019s shark effects<\/a>, utilizing a mix of classic old school animatronics and puppeteering, with that practical work aided by cutting edge visual effects.<\/p>\n

The team previewed in an official press release sent out this month,\u00a0\u201cThe shark, an epic scale that hasn\u2019t been done in Australia before, was a multidisciplinary approach across prosthetics, animatronics, puppeteering and CG animation, all led by the Formation team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The survival horror movie\u00a0is produced\u00a0by Bronte Pictures\u2019 Blake Northfield (Streamline,\u00a0Wyrmwood: Apocalypse<\/a>) and Pictures in Paradise\u2019s Chris Brown (Sting,\u00a0Daybreakers).<\/p>\n
