Police and forensics at the scene of serious incident in Twinbrook <\/p>\n

An MLA has said there is \u201cfear and shock\u201d in the community after two separate incidents in west Belfast.<\/p>\n

Emergency services remain at the scene of a serious incident where Armed Response Officers were called to the Broom Park area of Twinbrook at around 8pm this evening.<\/p>\n

One person has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.<\/p>\n

A large police cordon is in place with forensic teams and detectives tasked to the scene.<\/p>\n

It comes as a blaze broke out in a block of flats<\/a> just five minutes away on the Stewartstown Road.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said the cause of the fire \u201chas yet to be determined\u201d with no injuries reported.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the incidents Sinn Fein MLA Danny Baker told the Belfast Telegraph: \u201cEveryone was very shocked, and there was a lot of kids about as well, a lot of families out. It was a lovely night \u2013 a lot of people were walking.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a lot of fear as well. They were so close together, it is only walking distance.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said: \u201cThe NIAS received a 999 call at 20:15 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cNIAS despatched two emergency crews to the incident.
