It all adds up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">New research has compared some of the most popular seaside destinations in the UK and one hotspot on the coast of Wales came out cheaper than the rest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A new UK Seaside Affordability Index has revealed huge price differences around the coast of Britain, with the cost of just the &#8216;basics&#8217; ranging from \u00a316.71 up to \u00a338.20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Read more:<\/strong> <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/visited-200-year-old-birmingham-32203876\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">I visited a 200-year-old Birmingham attraction and it&#8217;s so underrated<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">NoDepositRewards.org compared the price of a classic day out at the beach, looking at the total cost of all-day parking (the current local council rates), the average cost of a &#8217;99&#8217; ice cream, a large fish and chips meal and deckchair hire for a full day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Brighton was found to be the most expensive seaside spot, as <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/uk\/2072145\/UK-seaside-spot-expensive-100\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the Express<\/a> reports, with all-day parking costing \u00a318 and a classic ice cream averaging \u00a32.70.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2_GMP_SWA_020421Good_Friday_Swansea_016JPG.jpg\" alt=\"Photo shows people sat on sandy beach\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Swansea Bay(Image: WalesOnline\/Gayle Marsh)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In comparison, the cheapest destination was found to be Swansea, with parking costing just \u00a33 for a full day and an ice cream priced at \u00a31.65.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A large fish and chips in Brighton cost around \u00a311.50, according to the study, while hiring a deckchair set beach-goers back around \u00a36 for the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">St Ives was the second priciest, with people spending an average of \u00a325.30 a day on seaside essentials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In comparison, the four &#8216;basics&#8217; totalled less than \u00a317 in Swansea, not to mention that a train journey from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> to Swansea costs just over \u00a330 when booked in advance and takes less than three hours. Alternatively, the drive takes around three and a half hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Swansea has 19 beaches covering over 30 miles of coastline, with Swansea Bay being the easiest to reach from the city centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One recent Google review of Swansea Bay Beach reads: &#8220;Lovely sandy beach clean and tidy, I went around 4pm and the tide was just coming back in which made for a very pleasant walk along the beach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And someone else said: &#8220;Clean and quiet beach, ideal for dog walks, plenty of easy parking nearby with a lovely caf\u00e9 along the seafront.
