Birmingham<\/a> City have launched a bid to sign Rennes defender Mikayil Faye, according to the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City are keen on landing the Ligue 1 man before the end of the transfer window if they can. BCFC have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to complete any incoming or outgoing bits of business.<\/p>\n

Faye, 21, joined Rennes in August last year from Barcelona. He penned a four-year deal with the French club and made 11 league appearances for them last season.<\/p>\n

In this latest update regarding his situation this summer, the Daily Mail<\/a> claim the Blues have made an offer for him. The report adds that Premier League teams are also assessing his situation.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City boss Chris Davies said last month that they still have some work to do on the recruitment front, BirminghamLive<\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019ve made a start obviously, signed a few players in a week. They all sort of came in a flurry, so that was positive. But we had to replace I think six or seven players who left, so you naturally have to replace them with six or seven players, that\u2019s normal. And yeah, I think we\u2019ve still got work to do, definitely, but that\u2019s an ongoing process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City could see Faye as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined, he would give BCFC more competition and depth at the back.<\/p>\n

The Senegal international, who has one cap under his belt, has a bright future ahead of him. He is still young and has potential to get better in the future.<\/p>\n

Faye signed for Barcelona back in 2023 but never played a first-team game for the La Liga giants. Instead, he was a key player for their B team before he was given the green light to head out the exit door on a permanent basis to Rennes.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> City will wait to see if Rennes accept their proposal for Faye. BCFC don\u2019t appear to have stopped on the transfer front just yet.<\/p>\n

The Blues have been busy over recent months. They have brought in the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Tommy Doyle and James Beadle to bolster their ranks, among many others.<\/p>\n

Davies\u2019 side<\/a> are back in action this weekend in the Championship<\/a> with a home clash against Oxford United<\/a> as they look to get some more points on the board. They drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town<\/a> in their first game before they won 2-1 away at Blackburn Rovers<\/a> last time out with Jay Stansfield and Lyndon Dykes on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n
