This follows a judge granting Epping Forest District Council a temporary injunction on Tuesday that blocked asylum seekers from being housed at the Bell Hotel in Epping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As a result, about 140 migrants will have to leave the hotel by September 12, according to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The ruling could set a precedent for other councils to lodge similar legal action. However Tony Dyer, leader of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a>, said Bristol remains proud of its status as a<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/special-features\/city-sanctuary-could-you-join-9190202\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> City of Sanctuary.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cBristol is a long-established place of sanctuary,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are a diverse city and are proud to welcome and provide safety for people seeking sanctuary from a wide range of backgrounds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cAs a City of Sanctuary, we will continue to support and show compassion to people when they need it most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There were <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/angry-scenes-bristol-counter-protest-10412677\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">angry scenes in Bristol earlier in August<\/a> when anti-asylum seeker protesters who had gathered outside a hotel in the city centre housing migrants were met by a larger group of counter protesters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Many councils around the country are reportedly considering mounting their own legal challenges in the wake of the Epping Forest ruling. Epping Forest District Council is dominated by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/conservative-party\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Conservatives<\/a>, with Tories accounting for 28 of its 54 councillors, including all nine of its cabinet positions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Bristol meanwhile has just seven Conservative councillors, with the Green Party (34) and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour<\/a> (21) dominating the 70-person council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Cllr Dyer said that while hotel accommodation wasn\u2019t necessarily an ideal solution, the council would try to approach the matter compassionately rather than litigiously.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cHotel accommodation is not always the best way to meet the health and wellbeing needs of people seeking sanctuary and to help them integrate with existing communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe are committed to reducing inequalities in our city and beyond, so it is important that effective planning is in place for people seeking sanctuary within our city, and that all our communities are well supported.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cOur focus is on working collaboratively to improve conditions for people seeking sanctuary and fostering compassionate and resilient communities in Bristol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There are no so-called \u201casylum seeker hotels\u201d in the areas governed by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bath-and-north-east-somerset\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bath<\/a> &amp;
