He said that successive governments have overpromised and overspent on &#8216;rubbish&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;It&#8217;s amazing that anybody bothers saving anymore&#8217;, Hitchens told columnist Sarah Vine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;We were warned Labour would do this. Remember, during the last election, Sir <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/keir-starmer\/index.html\" id=\"mol-207e30d0-7f44-11f0-ae7c-ff8d53954c8a\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Keir Starmer<\/a> said that what he meant by &#8216;working people&#8217; was those that didn&#8217;t have any savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;At that point, people should have realised that they needed to move heaven and earth to not allow this government to come into office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;These people will come after everything.
